Religious Education Wrap-Up 2026
This year we had 106 students from grades Pre-K to 8th grade, and we had nine students in our OCIC program on Tuesday nights. It was a wonderful year with lots of exciting activities that were enjoyed by all. During the year we had various parent meetings, Confirmation and First Holy Communion Retreats, Sacramental Rites, and student led Masses.
In September, we honored our Catechists with Mass on Catechetical Sunday. We are blessed with the amazing teachers that we have, for they are the backbone of our program.
In October, we enjoyed our family event with the church’s Weiner Roast and Trunk or Treat. Mark your calendar for this year’s Weiner Roast and Trunk or Treat on October 25, 2026.
December brought the decoration of the children’s tree “Christmas Legends” in the St. Damien Center, our celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Los Posadas, and the children’s Christmas Eve Mass.
March was First Reconciliation for 42 children, along with the Living Stations of the Cross.
April ushered in the Easter Bunny with the Easter Egg Hunt, and the Blessing Cup Ceremony for our First Communicants. We ended April with 41 eighth graders confirmed by Bishop Tylka.
May came with the Crowning of Mary and First Holy Communion for 42 children.
NEW FOR NEXT YEAR
We start our 2026-2027 Religious Education Year in September. In December we are planning to perform a Christmas Pageant. If interested in helping, please contact Debbie at the Parish Office (309) 762-2362.
I am creating a Parent Advisory Board. My goal for this board is to include parents in creating an exciting experience for our children as they go through our Religious Education Program. We are seeing an increase in Baptisms and interest for religious education for families. We need to maintain a strong program with innovative ideas and activities to make it even better. If you are interested in being a part of this board, please contact Debbie at the Parish Office. Our first meeting takes place in August.
