5:30 p.m. Friday, November 6
On June 12, our Diocese was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, entrusting our parishes, families, and ministries to His loving care. Every first Friday of the month, a different church in the diocese is hosting a votive Mass for this consecration. On November 6th, that Mass is celebrated here in our parish.
What is a Votive Mass?
A votive Mass is a type of Mass that honors Our Lord, Our Lady, a saint, or a mystery of the Faith at other times besides their assigned feast days. A priest can celebrate a votive Mass on any weekday during Ordinary Time where there is an optional memorial or no other feast. In the liturgy of the Catholic Church, a votive Mass (Latin missa votiva) is a Mass offered for a votum, a special intention.
