Religious Education Update

On January 31st, our Confirmation students spent a Day of Reflection. Eighth graders from St. Pius, Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s in Rock Island, St. Theresa of Calcutta in Milan and Andalusia and Christ the King joined Sacred Heart for a day of Mass, Reconciliation, and break out sessions as they prepare for Confirmation. Our 8th graders will receive Confirmation on April 26th by Bishop Tylka. The Rite of Enrollment for Confirmation is March 22.

On February 21st, our second graders had their First Holy Communion Retreat. This was a day filled with activities to help them prepare to receive Jesus for the first time, like arts and crafts, making their Blessing Cup, and First Communion Banner. Father Mark took time to talk with the parents on the importance of this sacrament. Then on March 7th, our 2nd graders will make their First Reconciliation. March 15th will be the Rite of Enrollment for First Holy Communion. On April 23rd our 2nd graders will have the Blessing Cup Ceremony. At this ceremony, the ceramic chalice they made at their retreat will be blessed by Father Mark and then First Holy Communion will be on May 3rd and May 10th during the 11:00 a.m. Masses.
