A Community Celebration

Dear Parishioners,

June 22nd we are having the second Sacred Heart Reunion. This is a special day. We are celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi. We are also having a note burning as we retire the debt we have on the St. Damien Center.

This note does not only represent the retirement of the debt, it also signifies the successful completion of the capital campaigns that we undertook in the past seven years. During this time, we completed capital programs that repaired stained glass windows in the church, tuck pointed buildings, updated HVAC, moved the priests’ living quarters, and paid for the St. Damien Center addition. Many people worked hard to achieve all this, too many to list here.

After the 11:00 am Mass on June 22nd, there is a Eucharistic procession to the green space followed by the burning of the note. The celebration continues with the second Reunion; featuring free food, games for the children, and entertainment, along with raffles for fun prizes. Please invite past parishioners to come back and join us. Special recognition will be given to those who graduated from Sacred Heart Grade school 50 years ago (1975) and those who graduated from Seton School 25 years ago (2000).

I hope many of you can come to this summer celebration. Thanks to the volunteers who are planning this wonderful event.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark

P.S. Since last month,  a great event took place in our church. Pope Leo XIV was elected. He is the first citizen of the United States to become Pope. It will be interesting to share news about this new Pontiff in the months to come. We should have a lot to share in our Heartbeat issues.
