Fifth Sunday of Easter

Dear Parishioners,

No one has to tell us that there has been a lot of noise around the Sacred Heart Campus the last few weeks.  This summer there will be more of the same.  We have several large capital projects that will be happening.

The tuck pointing that has been taking place since March should be finished by the first part of June.  This has been a complex project.  When we are finished, the church will be almost completely tuckpointed from top to bottom.  Hopefully this will solve most of the leaking issues we have had.  There will always be some moisture problems given the size of the building and the changing of the seasons, but these should be relatively easy to take care of now.

The grade school building will be tuck pointed this summer.  Seton school has finalized the contract.  There is much to be done but after this work is complete, we also hope to have made that building water tight.  The school was already enhanced with its new windows.  The brick work should make it look even nicer.

At the end of July, the repair of the stained-glass windows in the church will begin. Six of large windows will be taken out.  They will be completely reworked, and we hope to have them back in place by the middle of October.

We are moving ever so slowly towards the acquisition of the New American Bank building.  Once we gain ownership of the property, we will tear the building down.  The cost of the demolition will be far less than the property is worth.  All in all, we will add almost an acre of ground to our campus.  This will provide parking next to Culemans Hall and we hope having the abandoned building removed will enhance the appearance of our campus.

Finally, Seton School will be moving out of the Lee Center.  The school will consolidate its operations into three buildings.  We are presently exploring new uses for the extra space in the Lee Center building.

Please pray that all these projects will be completed successfully and for our Facilities committee which continues to do research and lead us forward in these efforts.  They have put in long hours to make sure that all these projects are completed successfully.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark

P.S.  Last Saturday we had another successful Lasallian Day.  Over 60 people have completed this training so far.  This has led to people taking up various leadership roles in our parish. This has been a true blessing for our parish life. St. Francis de Sales has been our inspiration for this effort.  He was a visionary Bishop who believed in engaging the laity and challenging everyone to grow in holiness so they might become better disciples.
