Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Parishioners,

Now that we have reached our second goal for the Today Tomorrow Together Campaign we will be concentrating on our third goal which is to build an addition to the church which will allow access for all parishioners in all kinds of weather conditions into the church.

This is a very important addition for the future of our parish. The last two Sundays we have had terrible snow storms.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have an entrance where people could pull up and drop off passengers and then have one person park the car while their family members proceed into the church to get settled?

This is the situation in other churches, so our members go there to attend Sunday Masses during foul weather.  Now it is nice that people do go to church, but if our members are not attending here, then that is obstacle to maintaining a church community.

To achieve our final goal is going to take sacrificial giving.  To donate is an act of charity, or to put it another way it is a concrete act of love.  Isn’t it a loving thing to try to ensure that the physically challenged among us can attend church?

When I walk into a church building that I helped erect through my donations and I see other people enjoying the space I feel good about what I have done.  I am sure that all of us feel warm inside when we can do a good turn for another person.

That is my appeal for this week.  I hope we can all respond with generosity to the needs of our parish and Seton Catholic School.  When we pull together for the good of all then great things can be achieved.  The church grew and spread because people saw the value of the community that Jesus started.  We are much stronger when we are united in faith than when everyone looks out for self-interest. Today Tomorrow Together is basic Christian living.

Blessings,

Fr. Mark
