25th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Parishioners,
I encourage everyone to install our new Parish App called myParishApp on your cell phone. There is a lot of wonderful information that is contained on the application. Technology is often used for scurrilous purposes, so it is nice to use our technology for something positive.
One example of how the myParish app can be of spiritual benefit is that a person can find out what the daily readings are. A good spiritual practice is to reflect on the readings from Mass. Not only are the readings there, but there are reflections on the readings. If you want to pray, then fifteen minutes with the scriptures can be a wonderful way to grow in faith.
Would you like to examine your conscience? There is one included in the program. There are many Catholic prayers as well. If your memory is like mine you can have these prayers at your fingertips.
There are also talks by well known Catholic speakers that you can access. Are you curious about the history of a certain feast day? Then there are explanations of those as well.
Finally, there are practical things like the Sacred Heart Mass Schedule. You can even have your phone set so when you come to Mass it will remind you to turn it off. That might be worth as much as anything else.
There are cards at the doors of the church, that explain how to download the application. If you get stuck, then just look for someone under the age of 14 and they will help you.
I would like to thank Kate Schaeffer and Carolyn Wilson for getting this new parish service up and running. If you like what you find when you use this program on your phone encourage your friends to load it on their phones as well.
Blessings,
Fr. Mark
