To Be a Christian Means to Have Hope Even in Darkness

What does it mean to be Christian? It means to look to the light, to continue to practice the profession of faith in the light, even when the world is wrapped in night and darkness,” Pope Francis said Aug. 2. The Pope resumed his general audiences Wednesday, following a break in July. Addressing pilgrims gathered in the Pope Paul VI hall of the Vatican, he spoke about the hope found in Christianity, especially in our Baptism, which orients us toward the light of Christ.

Ministry Spotlight: Prayer Shawls

This month’s Spotlight is on the Prayer Shawl Ministry. We talked to the women of the prayer shawl ministry, and they gave us the following insight to their important work.

Meet Father Matthew

Father Matthew Abu B. Cole, SMA is Sacred Heart’s parochial vicar. Fr. Matthew hails from Liberia and has long been a missionary, bringing the Word of God around the world. We asked Fr. Matthew a few questions, so the parish could get to know him a little better. Please join us in welcoming Fr. Matthew to Sacred Heart!

Back to School

August is always back to school month. Seton School is right here on our campus. As I look out my window the playground is empty. The quiet is in stark contrast to when school is in session. When the children are here there is a constant hubbub. If you know of school age children we would love to have them enroll at Seton grade school. We have pre-school through 8th grade.

Stewardship Weekend: July 8/9

This weekend parishioners will have the opportunity to volunteer for 4 Sacred Heart Ministries that are in need of your time and talents.

Bring Family & Friends Back to Sacred Heart!

Pope Francis asked Christians to be a witness of joy and faith to all those who have strayed from the faith and are sad because they have distanced themselves from Jesus, in his monthly prayer video. “We must not leave him alone!” the pope said. “We should offer him Christian hope – with our words, yes, but more with our testimony, with our freedom, with our joy.”

Ministry Spotlight: Garden Committee

Got a green thumb? Then consider joining our Garden Committee, chaired by parishioner Cliff Zerull. For the past 25 years, Cliff has been a part of a group of parishioners dedicated to keeping our parish grounds beautiful.

Pope Francis: Always Joyful When Seeing Young Priests

Recently Pope Francis spoke with the Vatican department in charge of priests, saying he is always happy when he sees young priests, because they are important for Christ and represent the youthful face of the Church.
